"The month of April has been designated Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). The goal of SAAM is to raise public awareness about sexual violence (focusing on sexual assault and rape) and to educate communities and individuals on how to prevent sexual violence.
Here on the SAAM site, you will find information and materials for both the upcoming SAAM campaign as well as past campaigns. While the National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NSVRC) creates these campaign materials for SAAM, we encourage state and local organizations and groups focused on sexual violence awareness and prevention to tailor these campaign materials to their local communities.

Ysleta Independent School District Desert View Middle School has contracted Ms. Myrna Boyer and the Women’s Personal Defense Center for mother/daughter Personal Defense Workshops. The events are scheduled for April 25th, 2009. The first begins at 9 am and goes to 12 noon. The second event will go from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm. They are free to the public. We are in the process of translating all of our pages into Spanish with the generous help of one of our local friends. They will be added to the site as they become available rather than waiting until they are all translated and then uploading them. Until such time that the entire site has been completely translated, links to newly translated pages will be provided here as they are completed. Once substantial content has been done we will provide a more prominent and convenient link to the Spanish home page from the main menu here on the English pages' home page.
